However, the mechanisms explaining oncogene addiction remain elusive. A prime example of a cancer that exhibits oncogene addiction is chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), which is driven by a mutant oncogene known as the Philadelphia chromosome. CML has been called the "poster-child disease for oncogene addiction".
